About the Project
Kaivalya Plays invites actors based in and around Delhi NCR to audition for its new production BABA QUIJOTE SINGH, an immersive multilingual work that places Miguel de Cervantes’ Don Quijote in a Punjabi cultural frame. Combining live performance, a projection-mapped installation and an archive of song and spoken word, the production is presented by Kaivalya Plays with the Instituto Cervantes Nueva Delhi and the Embassy of Spain in India, as part of the Año Dual España–India 2026. It premieres on Tuesday 8 December 2026 at the Instituto Cervantes Nueva Delhi. Kaivalya Plays is casting two groups of performers, auditioned separately:
Punjabi-speaking actors
Spanish-speaking actors
Fluency in the audition language is the main requirement. Actors of any level of experience are welcome, including newcomers. Singing forms part of the audition: the panel is assessing the flexibility of the voice, not formal training.
These are paid roles.

Selected actors must be available for every rehearsal and every performance.

Spanish: the Spanish monologue (an English translation is provided), followed by any folk song of the candidate’s choice, in any language.
Videos can be uploaded on the Google Form or sent on WhatsApp to [NUMBER]. Applicants who cannot do either should say so in the final question of the Google Form.
Tips for the Audition
The performance matters more than the video quality. A steady mobile phone camera is enough.
The room should be well lit, the performer clearly visible, and the audio clear and free of background noise.
The panel will be listening for clarity of enunciation.
Candidates should state their name and audition language at the start of the video.
For the in-person round, candidates should wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows free movement, bring a bottle of water and arrive on time.
Kaivalya Plays welcomes requests that would make the audition process more comfortable or accessible. Questions and requests can be sent to contact@kaivalyaplays.org.
