Commissioned by the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan in New Delhi, this programme of workshops worked with students aged fifteen to twenty-five from schools and colleges across the city.
The sessions were developed in response to two things happening at once: climate anxiety rising among young people, and environmental education that remains largely lecture-based and therefore poorly suited to addressing it. Being told more facts about a warming planet does little for someone already frightened by them.
The workshops combined storytelling, improvisation games, and future-visioning exercises such as Wouldn't It Be Nice If…, which ask participants to imagine forward rather than catalogue what is going wrong. The programme was linked to Science Film Festival themes, connecting global climate narratives to the perspectives of young people in Delhi.
Participants reported increased confidence in speaking about climate change, and several cohorts went on to organise peer-led discussions and school-level initiatives of their own. The Goethe-Institut repeated and expanded the programme across multiple years.
