Date:

June 21, 2026

Format:

Workshop

Location:

Triveni Kala Sangam

Theme:

Education, Improvisational Theatre, James Joyce Immersive

As part of the James Joyce Immersive programme, a morning workshop in spontaneous improvisation was held at Triveni Kala Sangam. The session explored several creative practices associated with James Joyce’s writing, including attention, impulse, association, and following ideas as they emerge.

Through improvisation games, storytelling exercises, and collaborative performance, participants explored connections between improvisation and stream-of-consciousness writing. The exercises encouraged participants to listen closely, respond instinctively, and remain open to unexpected directions.

The workshop was facilitated in collaboration with Gavin Methalaka of Aashurachna School of Improv, who led a number of the games and supported the group throughout the session.

The workshop brought together participants for a shared exploration of improvisation, storytelling, and creative expression, with the courtyard at Triveni Kala Sangam providing the setting for the activities.

We thank everyone who participated and contributed their curiosity, energy, and imagination to the session.
