Make It Land

Kaivalya Plays conducted an experiential team-building workshop for Google Cloud India’s SMB team, using principles of improvisational theatre to explore collaboration, communication, adaptability, storytelling, and individual strengths.

The workshop, facilitated by Varoon P. Anand and Gaurav Singh Nijjer, was designed as an immersive alternative to a conventional team-building session. Rather than relying on presentations, the participants were engaged through interactive improvisational exercises that encouraged them to listen, respond in the moment, collaborate, and adapt to changing situations.

Through the activities, the team explored how improvisation principles can translate into everyday workplace behaviours. Storytelling exercises highlighted the importance of listening and building on one another’s contributions, while other activities created opportunities to experience adaptability and collaboration in real time. The workshop also brought out different individual strengths and communication styles within the group.

A key focus of the session was creating a balance between play and reflection. Participants were encouraged to engage openly, laugh, experiment, and step outside their usual professional interactions, while also reflecting on how they communicate and show up for one another at work.

The experiential format enabled the team to observe their own dynamics in a new context. Instead of simply discussing effective teamwork, participants experienced the importance of listening, supporting others, adapting to uncertainty, and contributing to a collective outcome.

Feedback from Google Cloud India’s SMB team reflected the impact of this approach. The session was described as a standout highlight of the day, with the team particularly appreciating the opportunity to laugh, collaborate, and reflect on their individual strengths and communication styles. The client also highlighted the high energy, thoughtful facilitation, and meaningful reflection brought by the Kaivalya Plays facilitators.

For Kaivalya Plays, the workshop demonstrated how improvisational theatre can be used as a practical framework for workplace learning.
