Commissioned by the Danish Cultural Institute and run with Lotus Valley School in India and Gladsaxe Gymnasium in Denmark, the Denmark–India Student Climate Dialogues brought together secondary school students aged fifteen to eighteen across two countries and two academic years.
The programme began from a straightforward observation: climate change is experienced very differently depending on where you live, but responding to it requires a shared sense of responsibility. Students in Delhi and students in Gladsaxe were dealing with the same warming planet through entirely different daily realities.
Sessions combined improvisation games, comparative discussion, and collaborative storytelling. Students examined energy production, waste management, food systems, and everyday climate practices in their respective countries, comparing what each had taken for granted. Exercises such as I Am a Tree gave them a physical vocabulary for ideas that can otherwise stay abstract, and joint climate newscasts asked them to report on each other's contexts.
Sustained across two academic years, the dialogues built student confidence in speaking publicly about climate issues and led to student-led climate initiatives within the participating schools.
