Kamlesh Bourai – Theatre Practitioner and Educator

Kamlesh Bourai is a passionate theatre practitioner and drama educator, trained at the prestigious National School of Drama, Theatre in Education Wing, Tripura. Deeply rooted in process-based learning and creative storytelling, Kamlesh has been actively engaged in the field of theatre for several years, working with children, young adults, and diverse communities.

He has conducted production-oriented workshops and creative drama sessions at Grow Big School, Ramagya School, and NSD Delhi & IOCL, and has facilitated various projects blending folk tales, rituals, mythology, and contemporary issues.

Kamlesh is the co-writer and director of *The Golden Commode*, created in collaboration with Ridhhijit Chattopadhyay, a production that received the **Magic Mountain Theatre Fellowship Production Grant**. His work seamlessly weaves elements like **Songs, physical theatre, voice and rhythm** into engaging and transformative learning experiences.

He has also been actively associated with **Jana Natya Manch**, participating in process-based performances, documentary theatre workshops, and community storytelling projects. His exposure to **street theatre traditions, forum theatre techniques**, and **people's movements** through Jana Natya Manch has greatly shaped his artistic and social outlook.

Kamlesh’s practice revolves around **empathy, imagination, and empowerment**. His work aspires to bridge the traditional with the contemporary, creating spaces where stories lead to reflection, dialogue, and change.
