CLASS APART: IMPROVISING IN THE STYLE OF JANE AUSTEN AND BRIDGERTON

With Amy Cooke-Hodgson

Join Amy Cooke-Hodgson (from the West End hit comedy show, Austentatious!) in this 3-hour workshop as she guides you through techniques and exercises to create scenes in the style of adored British author, Jane Austen and the hit TV series, Bridgerton.

Explore social status and manners, melodrama, repressed emotions, subtext and staging techniques to bring theatre and pathos to the improv stage, and recreate the Victorian and Regency era on the Indian stage.

This workshop is best suited for students, actors, improvisers and literature / pop culture buffs with some prior experience in improv theatre as well as the literary universe of Jane Austen and Bridgerton, or an interest in the Victorian and Regency era of British society.

The workshop will be held at Sanskriti Kendra in Aya Nagar, South Delhi. Participants can sign up for the workshop for INR 1499 (regular price) or INR 1349 (early bird prices till March 31st). Participants can also sign up to this workshop and three other workshops (Introduction to Musical Improv, Essentials of Acting for Improvisers, Harry Potter Improv) for a combined workshop pass at INR 5999/-. 

About The Facilitator

Amy Cooke-Hodgson is a versatile actress, performer and drama educator. She is the co-founder of the improv company The Make Em Ups, with whom she stars in the show "Bumper Blyton" as well as the co-founder of  the award-winning West End hit comedy show, "Austentatious!". Recent stage credits include the Queen in the UK première of lost Cole Porter musical Jubilee, a nine-month run as the bar maid in Opera Up Close’s Olivier Award-winning La Bohème, Betty in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change!, Kim in Personals, Ida in Honk! and Catherine in Proof. Other recent credits include two films with Kwame Lestrade for Oval House Theatre and Centrepoint, a pilot for BBC Comedy and some silly voices for Cartoon Network. An experienced improviser, her comedy career includes performances with Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, improvised hip-hop band Abandoman and The Oxford Imps [UK & USA Tour].  With a passion for contemporary musical theatre, Amy co-founded Maple Giant Theatre in 2005 and received critical acclaim in particular for her direction of The Last 5 Years and tick..tick..BOOM!
