OPEN SPACE DELHI

An in-person improv theatre jam, open to all levels of experience! 

• Dates: Every alternate Thursday evening
• Location: Kaivalya Plays Studio in New Rajendra Nagar. You will receive the exact location upon registering.
• Time: Begins 7pm onwards
• Duration: 60-75 minutes with a short break in the middle.
• Experience: Open to all levels of improv experience, from beginners to veterans.

ABOUT OPEN SPACE DELHI

Improv is a form of spontaneous storytelling where one uses suggestions from the audiences to create characters and scenes on the spot without a predetermined script. At Kaivalya Plays' Open Space, we welcome everyone with a love for improv to play games, build scenes and tell stories together in a safe, no-pressure environment. 

Our Open Space jam series first began as an online-only program during the pandemic. Since May 2020, we've hosted over 150 online sessions, facilitated by over 20 global facilitators and attended by over 1400 individuals from over 20 countries! The Open Space 'Delhi' series seeks to bring the same energy into an in-person gathering at our studio. You will be led by a jam facilitator who will introduce each game to you and meet like-minded folks from the Delhi NCR improv community. 

Whilst this is a free event, we invite you to support this and other free initiatives by Kaivalya Plays with a voluntary donation whilst purchasing your tickets or dropping a tip in our donation box.  

ABOUT KAIVALYA PLAYS

Kaivalya Plays is an Indian performing arts and production organization, led by Varoon P. Anand as Artistic Director and Gaurav Singh Nijjer as General Manager. Their artistic training is grounded in spontaneous improvisation, lying at the intersection of short-form improvisations (for performances and workshop) and applied improvisation (with a focus on mental healthcare, business, education, training). Their improv group CueLess improv was one of Delhi's first improv teams and became the training ground for a generation of improv performers and heads of new teams. Kaivalya Plays' original play 'Unravel' uses improvisational theatre techniques to drive conversations about mental health. 

Their innovative use of the improv methodology spans different sectors – driving safety conversations in the performing arts, expanding mental health dialogue through their 'Improv for Wellness' program, fostering a global community with their 'Open Space' improv jam, supporting foreign language learning with their 'Improv for Languages' programs in Hindi, Spanish and Punjabi as well as furthering improv as an artform with the multilingual 'India Improv Ensemble' and 'India Improv Sxene' that puts the spotlight on the Indian improvisational theatre community. They are committed to finding new formats and applications to make improv accessible and available to a wider audience.
