Join us for the opening night of Bloomsday Week 2026 and the premiere of Araby, the latest edition of James Joyce Immersive, a series of immersive dramatized readings developed by Kaivalya Plays in collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland in India.

The evening coincides with the launch of Joycewale: Notes on Photos, a Diary between Delhi and Dublin, a photo-text exhibition by acclaimed writer and photographer Mayank Austen Soofi. Together, the exhibition and performance invite audiences to explore unexpected connections between Dublin and Delhi through literature, memory, storytelling, and everyday urban life.

Araby, one of the most beloved stories from James Joyce's Dubliners, follows a young boy whose romantic dreams lead him to a Dublin bazaar, where he confronts disappointment and the gap between fantasy and reality. Presented as an immersive dramatized reading, the performance combines live narration, sound, projection, and theatrical staging to bring Joyce's world vividly to life.

Following the performance, audiences are invited to participate in a literary quiz and book giveaway in collaboration with Bahrisons Booksellers, with books and prizes to be won.

The evening also includes the announcement of winners from the James Joyce School Competition conducted in collaboration with Jaspal Kaur Public School.

Part exhibition opening, part literary celebration, and part theatrical experience, this event marks the beginning of a week dedicated to the life and work of one of the twentieth century's most influential writers.

About James Joyce Immersive

James Joyce Immersive is a series of immersive dramatized readings and literary experiences developed by Kaivalya Plays in collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland in India. Drawing on stories from Dubliners, the project combines performance, sound, projection, and audience immersion to bring Joyce's characters and inner worlds to life. Through Araby, Eveline, and Counterparts, the series explores themes of desire, memory, frustration, longing, and transformation while reimagining literary reading as a shared theatrical encounter.
